Indian Head Massage can be a great help in reducing headaches caused by tension, eyestrain and stiffness in the neck and shoulders. Massage helps to eliminate the cause of the headaches as well as the symptoms. In the case of migraines, massage before an attack or when one is suspected, can help reduce the symptoms and extend the interval between attacks.
Treatment can be delivered through clothing or with oil applied, and works on the upper back, arms, neck, scalp, face and upper chakras or (energy centres). Oils are chosen according to your Dosha type. Each person's constitution is controlled by a unique combination of three major bodily systems called Doshas. It is the balance of these that allows good health. Doshas are affected by factors such as diet, environment and lifestyle.
What does it involve?
The client, fully clothed, sits in a massage chair for the treatment. The therapist uses a range
of different movements including application of deep kneading and compression movements
over the neck, shoulder and scalp areas. In addition, the therapist will also gently stimulate
and stroke pressure points on the face. The session will usually last from twenty to forty-five
minutes, and most therapists like their clients to sit quietly for ten or twenty minutes once the
massage has been completed.
